Dodgy cabling is everywhere.
If your structured cabling is not installed correctly you will experience connectivity issues with your PC’s and other hardware. King Comms NI were called out again this week to attend a customers site who have had incorrectly installed cabling on their premises. See below example of what not to do with Cat 5e cables. Jointing cat 5e or any other cat cable, should be as a last resort and if the installation engineer has had to make a joint it is likely because a mistake has been made. If you do see your installation engineer jointing cable in this manner demand that it is jointed in compliance with BS EN 50173. If he/she does not know what that is give us a call and our city and guilds qualified staff will ensure that the work is carried out properly.
